Biography

Dr. Andrew Harrison is a saxophone soloist and chamber musician known for championing contemporary repertoire and imaginative concert programming. He has performed hundreds of concerts across United States at major universities, festivals, and concert venues, and has appeared as a soloist with ensembles including the Pacific Symphony Youth Winds and Orchestra, Santa Rosa Symphony, and Chandler Symphony Orchestra.

A passionate advocate for new music, Harrison has commissioned and premiered more than sixty chamber works and seven concerti by composers from around the world. His performances highlight both established repertoire and newly created works, reflecting a commitment to expanding the artistic possibilities of the saxophone while connecting contemporary music with modern audiences.
Harrison is also a founding member of Duo HaLo, a saxophone and piano ensemble dedicated to creative programming and collaborative storytelling through music. The duo’s projects include the critically praised program Imaginary Folksongs, which explores invented musical traditions through newly commissioned works.

In addition to his performing career, Harrison is an active educator and mentor. He serves on the faculty at Sonoma State University, where he teaches saxophone and directs the university’s saxophone studio. Through both performance and teaching, he seeks to inspire musicians to pursue artistry, curiosity, and meaningful musical expression.

Harrison was a finalist for the San Francisco Classical Voice Award for Best Instrumental Soloist. His performances and recordings continue to reach audiences internationally through concerts, recordings, and digital media.
